Ultraviolet light, particularly UVA light at roughly 365 nm allows certain chemicals, fungi and other materials to fluoresce. Fluorescence is the effect where mateials give off light at a certain wavelength when exited by in this case UV light. Normal "healthy skin" does not fluoresce under UV light whereas sun damaged skin, oily skin and very dry skin do tend to fluoresce. The skin care professional will need to become familiar with the effects of UVA light on the clients skin. In short order, the user can become very proficient with the Skin Scope or Skin Skanner. As a skin care professional you will be able to make recommendation to help your client clear up these challenges and problems.
The
skin scope is truly a wonderful device to help you the skin care
professional evaluate your client's skin for a wide variety of skin
challenges, such as dry or oily skin, sun damage or the like.
