Fluorescence is the effect where mateials give off light at a certain wavelength when exited by in this case UV light. Normal "healthy skin" does not fluoresce under UV light whereas sun damaged skin, oily skin and very dry skin do tend to fluoresce. The skin care professional will need to become familiar with the effects of UVA light on the clients skin. In short order, the user can become very proficient with the Skin Scope or Skin Skanner.
